TWIN THERMAL EXTRUSION

At the heart of our kitchens is a twin thermal extruder which is fed fresh ingredients from our High Intensity Preconditioner.

The first of its kind in North America, it took 11 months to build, and features custom steam injection to enable very high fresh meat inclusions and a gentle cooking process which helps further reduce the carbohydrates in our foods and preserves their natural goodness.

PROTECTING GOODNESS AND TASTE

MOISTURE REDUCTION

Moisture management is critical when making foods with exceedingly high fresh meat inclusions. DogStar® features a sequential drying and conveyance system that efficiently removes moisture at lower temperatures. Equipped with moisture and density monitoring, it provides real-time feedback to our kitchen control center, enabling instant adjustments for optimal moisture reduction.

  1. Custom conveyors with proprietary hood systems draw initial moisture from the food.
  2. Special pre-drying systems then remove additional moisture allowing the food to travel pneumatically to the final drying stage.
  3. A 3-pass drying system gently turns over the food to remove final moisture.

SEQUENTIAL FREEZE-DRIED INFUSIONS

Our Cuddon freeze-dry chambers create natural palatants from our fresh, regional ingredients, which are then infused into our foods after drying through a sequential flow infusion process.

UNIQUE FATTY ACID PROFILES
A unique ‘tote bank system’ allows us to blend and create specific fatty acid profiles.

LOW TEMPERATURE APPLICATIONS
Essential oils are brought to 70°F with a proprietary ‘low heat’ system for optimal infusion.

STAGED INFUSIONS
For a rich, natural flavor, the first infusion for instance, might be a blend of cold-pressed fish oil, followed by freeze-dried tripe, and finished with freeze-dried liver.
